2016 Orange Label Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
An aromatically intense wine showing aromas of white flesh nectarine, tropical fruit salad, gooseberry and lemon zest. Other aromas noted include quince, nettle, dried oregano and cut straw. The palate has a fleshy entry and seamless flow finishing with a lively crisp acidity - lingering citrus flavours and cut straw.
Grapes harvested in the cool of the night were gently pressed and the juice clarified quickly to retain the maximum aroma expression. Selected strains of yeast were added to fully capture the aromatic intensity of this vibrant Sauvignon Blanc. Ferment was undertaken at cool temperatures over several weeks before blending, light fining and filtration.

Bright, very pale straw colour with slight green hue, pale on the rim. The nose is soft and gently full with harmoniously interwoven aromas of passionfruit, white florals, fresh herbs and gooseberries, along with subtle mineral notes. The aromatics build in richness with aeration. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the fruit flavours of pungent passionfruit are melded smoothly with fresh herbs, white florals and gooseberries. The mouthfeel is easy and the wine is guided by soft phenolic textures and fresh acidity providing positive drive and energy. The wine carries to a mellow, sweet-fruited finish with passionfruit and tropical fruit elements. This is a soft and harmonious, passionfruity Sauvignon Blanc with a smooth and balanced mouthfeel. Match with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2 years. The ‘Orange Label’. Marlborough fruit cool-fermented to 12.5% alc. and 3.0 g/L RS.
