Intriguing, lifted aromas of ripe mandarin peel, nectarine, hazelnut and vanilla bean with nuances of nutmeg and lemon meringue. The palate is extremely intense with a seamless flow of sweet citrus notes and baked apple. Finely knit and very classical with sensational length – the hallmark of this iconic vineyard.

This is a highly regarded wine and Sacred Hill deserves respect for having a crack in this tasting and offering a benchmark for the up and comers. Although it didn’t get its usual five stars, it was sitting in good company among some great four-star chardonnays, and attracted good comments from the team. Simon had lifted oily lemon essence with solid fruit. It was ripe with good grip. Ant liked this “big, creamy wine”, which had a salty, interesting palate. Barry noted vanillin and said it had a “big, broad palate”.
