Single Vineyard Range

One of the most rewarding challenges in winemaking is to craft a single vineyard wine that beautifully balances the varietal, the soil and the climate. Sacred Hill has risen to this challenge by launching a collection of three distinctive single vineyard wines that truly reflect their origins.

These world-class wines are a natural expression of the land, each richly textured with a unique flavour profile which can be traced directly back to the vineyard. The generous use of new French oak adds richness and complexity, creating wines that taste like wild feels.

Sacred Hill’s new range includes a Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay and Syrah and a Marlborough Pinot Noir, each crafted from hand-selected parcels of fruit from exceptional vineyards.

2018 Sacred Hill Single Vineyard Hawke’s Bay Chardonnay

Styled to capture the true essence of Sacred Hill’s Riflemans vineyard, this rich and textural wine offers aromas of grapefruit, spiced brioche, and toasted hazelnut, with subtle but complex layers of gunflint and toasty vanilla oak. With a lingering aftertaste of lemon curd, yellow peach and toasty oatmeal biscuits, this sumptuous wine is superbly balanced, and well suited to pair with a wide range of foods. 100% barrel fermented in French Oak barriques, this wine has been gently handled through to bottling to retain the wine’s texture, flavour and aromatics.

Serve with roast chicken, pork or seafood. Enjoy now or cellar for 5 – 7 years. RRP $24.99.

2018 Sacred Hill Single Vineyard Hawke’s Bay Syrah

Harvested from the Deerstalkers vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels, this wine offers a complex aromatic medley of white pepper, salted chocolate and Black Doris plums, with these rich aromas leading to undertones of smoky tobacco leaf and dark floral notes. The palate offers fresh, dark wild berries, sweet forest fruit compote and flavoursome baking spices while succulent velvety tannins contribute to the long, elegant finish.

Aged for eight months in French Oak barrels, this Syrah offers a perfect balance of texture, flavour and structure.

Match with Peking duck or barbecued red meats. Enjoy now or cellar for 5 years. RRP $27.99.

2018 Sacred Hill Single Vineyard Marlborough Pinot Noir

This rich Pinot Noir has a beautiful ruby-red hue, and is bursting with aromas of black cherries, vanilla, and strawberry conserve with complex undertones of wild herbs and forest floor. Vibrant and concentrated, this wine showcases the classic style of Marlborough Pinot Noir with immediate richness and supple, velvety tannins.

Made from hand-selected parcels of ripe, vibrant fruit, fermented in small batches and aged for 10 months in French Oak barrels.

Enjoy now or cellar for five years. Try alongside venison, duck, quail or beef. RRP $27.99.

Sacred Hill winemaker Kel Dixon says: “The 2018 vintage delivered impeccable fruit which we harvested at their absolute best. This enabled us to create an exceptional wine that is a true reflection of the vineyard.”

“Sacred Hill has a strong reputation for making great expressions of these varietals, and we’re incredibly proud of this single vineyard collection. We’ve created these wines in very small batches and hope each and every bottle will be immensely enjoyed.”
